SIR Keir Starmer plans to launch a campaign for the north of England to host the Olympics in the 2040s.
Government officials have indicated that both the Olympics and Paralympics should be embraced by the region.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy stated, “It’s time for the Olympics to come north, showcasing our talents to the world.”
The Government has commissioned UK Sport to conduct an initial feasibility study on hosting the Olympics.
The UK has previously hosted the Olympics three times, all in London, with the last event taking place in 2012, where several British athletes, including Mo Farah, achieved gold medals.
Manchester’s bid to host the 2000 Games fell short in 1993, with Sydney ultimately securing the event.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves emphasized her dedication to using the nation’s sporting heritage “to energize our communities and build a stronger and more resilient economy.”
This proposal comes in the wake of Labour’s difficulties after a disappointing night in local elections and Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham’s return to Westminster campaign.
The Conservatives have labeled the initiative a “cynical attempt” to divert focus from Labour’s challenges.
Shadow Culture Secretary Nigel Huddleston remarked, “Taxpayers deserve to know whether this is a legitimate proposal or just a political maneuver.”
The British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association will make the final decision on any bid.
