Garcia couldn’t identify who was behind the mask

When asked about his aspirations to become the face of boxing, Garcia stated that he must first defeat WBA champion Teofimo Lopez.

At that moment, the man holding the microphone removed his fake beard and hair, revealing himself as Lopez.

“What’s up, baby! I’m here,” said the 29-year-old.

Garcia, 28, laughed and replied, “Let’s do it.”

Benn, 29, is stepping back to welterweight for the first time in over FOUR YEARS.

He described his weight cut down to 147 lbs as “hell,” raising concerns regarding his ability to meet the weight limit.

Garcia mentioned that he has requested for both fighters to be allowed to wear 8oz gloves in the event that one fails to make weight.

According to Nevada regulations, anyone over 148 lbs must wear 10oz gloves.

Garcia vs Benn – all the info

Ryan Garcia will make his first defense of the WBC welterweight title against British star Conor Benn THIS Saturday.

The highly awaited event in Las Vegas is promoted by Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing.

Garcia, 28, earned his first world title in February with a decisive unanimous decision victory over Mario Barrios.

Benn, 29, is in pursuit of his inaugural world title in his professional career.

His only setback occurred when he faced Chris Eubank Jr in April 2025, but he quickly avenged that loss with a unanimous decision win in their rematch that November.

Benn enters this pivotal match after a dominant points decision victory against former champion Regis Prograis in April, marking his debut with Zuffa Boxing.

Garcia remarked: “I want to make sure if he doesn’t come in on weight, I can still use my preferred 8oz gloves.

“This is merely a precaution in case he fails to meet the weight, enabling me to fight with 8oz gloves.

“I’m used to fighting at 147, and I don’t wish to use 10oz gloves. The 8oz gloves are more dangerous anyway, so that’s my rationale.”

Benn responded: “I’ve never missed weight in my 10-year career.

“You’re speaking to someone who has always made weight, not someone with a track record of not making weight multiple times.

“I find it peculiar that a request is even being made by someone who has previously struggled with weight. It should be the opposite.”
