Authorities in Bolivia have seized more than 86 kilograms of marijuana from a bus decorated with the colors of the famous Brazilian football club, São Paulo.
During a search operation in Villa Tunari, located in the Cochabamba region, narcotics agents apprehended three suspects found with multiple packages containing the illegal substance, according to reports from L’Equipe.
The bus, prominently featuring the colors and logos of São Paulo, was intercepted on Tuesday evening while the team was gearing up to play Bolívar in the Copa Sudamericana.
During a detailed inspection, authorities discovered 65 rectangular packages hidden within shopping bags.
Tests later confirmed that the packages contained marijuana, with local sources estimating a total weight of around 86.5 kg.
São Paulo has quickly distanced itself from this incident, asserting that the bus was not affiliated with the team.

Transport company Cosmos, responsible for operating the bus, also denied any connections to the Brazilian club’s squad.
In a statement, the company remarked: “The São Paulo team did not use this bus—another vehicle was assigned for them.
“We emphasize that the Bolivian drivers are fully accountable.”
The bus was reportedly traveling through Villa Tunari, a central area in Bolivia known for its extensive coca cultivation, at the time it was halted.

The three individuals arrested are currently being investigated by Bolivia’s narcotics agencies.
São Paulo was in Bolivia for the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana round of 16 match against Bolívar, akin to the Europa League in South America.
The club has not been implicated in any illegal activity, and no players or staff members were connected to the incident.
