CAMERON MENZIES admitted he went full “Harry Kane” after losing his voice following the biggest victory of his life.
The 37-year-old from Ayrshire achieved a remarkable win against world No. 2 Luke Humphries, clinching the match 10-7 with a breathtaking ‘Big Fish’ 170 finish in the World Matchplay.

Menzies surged ahead with an 8-3 lead before ‘Cool Hand’ made a comeback, narrowing the gap to just one leg.
Nonetheless, the Scot kept his cool, delivering a phenomenal finish to claim the biggest upset of the tournament thus far.
Menzies said: “No one thought I had a shot. I’ve finally won at the Winter Gardens.
“I can’t find the words to express it. I went from hearing ‘Scotland get battered’ [a fan chant] to ‘come on Cammy’.

“Last year was a struggle for me, but this feels completely different. What a remarkable experience.

“Luke Humphries is an incredible player and a good guy. I’ve known him for a couple of years. At 7-3, I reminded myself not to focus on the finish line.
“But then the nerves took over. I know he’s disappointed; that wasn’t the Humphries I know.

“I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. I get caught up in the moment too easily.
“Expressing that much emotion can really take it out of me. I aimed to be more composed.
“My voice is gone; I feel like Harry Kane without my voice.
“I expected him to have a moment and apply pressure, and he did. I know that’s not the Humphries who typically performs, but I’ll gladly take this win.”
Humphries’ early exit will greatly benefit defending champion Luke Littler, who is set to compete against Nathan Aspinall in the second round tomorrow.
