CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN’S defibrillator once again proved vital after he collapsed during Denmark’s friendly match against Ukraine.
At 34, Eriksen clutched his chest before falling to the ground in Odense, prompting cameras to quickly avert their gaze.
Emergency medical staff rushed to Eriksen’s side as fellow players encircled him in a distressing scene.
While the match was quickly abandoned, the Wolfsburg player was thankfully awake and reported to be “well” as he was taken away in an ambulance alongside his wife, Sabrina.
At that moment, Denmark was ahead 2-1, with goals from Patrick Dorgu and Joakim Maehle, while Ukraine countered with a goal from Viktor Tsygankov.
This harrowing incident came five years after Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 in a game against Finland.

The former Manchester United player’s heart reportedly stopped for around five minutes, but fortunately, he made a complete recovery.
The ex-Tottenham star received an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), which is designed to detect dangerous heart rhythms and deliver corrective electrical shocks.
Denmark’s team doctor, Morten Boesen, confirmed that the ICD functioned as intended and noted that Eriksen is “okay.”
However, it’s still unclear what led to the incident, as the Denmark international was taken to the hospital for further assessment.
Boesen stated, “Christian is doing well and was able to leave the pitch on his own. The pacemaker responded appropriately. He experienced a brief period of unconsciousness but quickly regained awareness, and we were in touch with him soon after.
“He will undergo additional evaluations at the hospital to determine the cause of the incident. We are in ongoing communication with him and the hospital team. But Christian is doing well and asked me to send his regards to all the players and assure them he is okay.”
Eriksen made a remarkable return following his health crisis in 2021, which led to his departure from Inter Milan due to regulations in Italian football that prevented players with an ICD from playing.
The former Ajax player made a triumphant return to the Premier League a year later when he signed with Brentford, delivering an impressive performance with 11 appearances, one goal, and four assists.
This success paved the way for a significant move to Manchester United in 2022, followed by a transfer to the Bundesliga.
