RUBEN AMORIM has recognized a peculiar deficiency he believes exists at Manchester United.
The Portuguese manager is facing a challenging season start, currently sitting in 14th place in the Premier League after six matches, along with a disheartening exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two team Grimsby Town in August.

Amorim asserts that United requires not only leaders but also more unpredictable players on the field to turn games around during challenging moments, a recurring issue this season.
In a recent interview with Owen Hargreaves for TNT Sport, he remarked: “We need leaders, but occasionally we also need players who possess a unique spark.
“[Matheus] Cunha exemplifies this; he is a robust individual who isn’t daunted by opponents. Whenever he gets the ball, he takes control.”
“This is the mindset we need. Even though [Harry] Maguire has captained and played for the national team, you can still feel that in critical moments, we tend to waver.”
“Regardless of whether it’s Bruno [Fernandes] with his experience or Harry, that’s in the past; we must concentrate on the future.
“At times, while observing the game, when things start going downhill, you notice Bryan [Mbeumo] stands out due to his distinct background.
“Looking at Cunha, you might sense his frustration, but that frustration translates into a hunger for the ball. We certainly lack that.”
“We need to move forward and welcome that spontaneous spirit; when chaos ensues, that’s the moment for those fearless players. Sometimes it’s not just leadership we lack, but also those unpredictable, game-changing athletes.”

Amorim highlighted two of the notable new signings made by the Red Devils during the summer transfer window, Mbeumo and Cunha, but despite his insights, both have struggled to make a significant impact since joining.
Cunha is still waiting for his first goal contribution in red this season, while Mbeumo has found the back of the net just once in the league and added a League Cup equalizer against Grimsby Town.

Another newcomer, Benjamin Sesko, has also netted just once, following a near miss during his team’s 3-1 loss to Brentford over the weekend.
The challenges are poised to continue for the struggling giants as they gear up to face a strong Sunderland side at home this Saturday, followed by an away match against league leaders Liverpool after the international break.
Amorim is under immense pressure, and it’s hard to foresee how much longer he will stay in his role in the North West if results do not improve.
Reports indicate that United has begun considering potential successors for the 40-year-old, with names like Oliver Glasner, Fabian Hurzeler, and Andoni Iraola under evaluation.
Former United legend and Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has also emerged as a potential interim solution should the club seek a temporary replacement while searching for a permanent successor.
