GEORGE RUSSELL sparked excitement during a tumultuous practice session at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Two red flags, a pit lane collision, and even a FIRE made for an incredibly eventful Friday for the stewards.

The opening practice session kicked off with Alex Albon’s Williams experiencing a fire in its rear brakes, exacerbated by the extreme heat at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Team principal James Vowles later revealed the brakes had reached temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees, leading Albon to withdraw from the session.
Russell then added to the excitement during FP2 by crashing into the barriers at Turn 16.
As he attempted to navigate a right turn, he lost control of the rear, resulting in a snap correction that sent him crashing into the wall, prompting the first red flag of the session.
The incident was described as “odd” by Russell over the team radio.
Shortly after, Liam Lawson suffered a similar incident, crashing into the wall at the exit of Turn 17.
This event caused his front-left tire to fly off down the track while the plank underneath his car scraped along the asphalt, bringing his Racing Bulls car to a halt at the pit lane entrance.
After the restart, Charles Leclerc made a puzzling decision by colliding with McLaren’s Lando Norris in the pit lane due to an unsafe release from Scuderia mechanics.

Both drivers have been summoned by the race stewards due to the incident, which could result in a penalty for the Ferrari driver.
A total of 22 minutes of the hour-long session were lost due to these various incidents.
