Khalil Ben Youssef, the assistant coach of Kaizer Chiefs, has announced that the team is fully prepared for their Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
The Glamour Boys currently sit in fifth place, having accumulated 14 points from seven matches, which includes four wins, two draws, and a single loss, showcasing a strong start to their season.
Ben Youssef stressed the team’s preparedness for Usuthu, declaring it a critical match.
“AmaZulu is one of the strong contenders in the PSL, and we treat every team with the same level of seriousness,” said Ben Youssef, noting that his squad has remained unbeaten against AmaZulu at home since February 2021 in league matches.
“Regardless of whether it’s AmaZulu, Mamelodi Sundowns, or Chippa United, every game is vital. We create a tactical approach based on our analysis of the last four or five games, collaborating closely with our analysts. We then choose the players based on their recent performances aligned with our game strategy.
“As we have reiterated, every match is approached as if it were a cup final, and our objective is always to win. We recognize the current situation in the PSL. Despite our solid start, we experienced a small setback with a loss to Sekhukhune followed by a draw. Hence, it’s vital for us to rebound and secure a win in this upcoming match to regain our momentum in the first round.”
Ben Youssef also expressed his eagerness for the upcoming international break, underscoring its importance for the players’ mental health.
“This break holds significant importance for us and is essential for our players,” remarked Ben Youssef, who has been leading the team in the absence of coach Nasreddine Nabi.
“We are looking forward to this break, especially considering the mental strain our players face from participating in the PSL, the CAF Confederation Cup, and the crowded schedule of matches, along with daily meetings and training camps. It’s been mentally demanding, and they require some time to recharge.”
