Orlando Pirates head coach Abdelsam Ouaddou expressed his satisfaction with striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, who celebrated his 50th goal for the team, while also praising the full squad after their 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.
The victory marked the Buccaneers’ fifth consecutive win in the league (and eighth across all competitions), propelling them to third in the standings.
Goals and Achievements
Mabasa, who came on for first-half penalty scorer Evidence Makgopa, secured the win by scoring during stoppage time.
He converted a header from a Deon Hotto cross into the net. This landmark goal was Mabasa’s 50th in Pirates’ history, achieved in 139 appearances across all competitions.
The victory brings Pirates to 15 points after seven matches, placing them six points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns (who have played three more matches) and five points behind second-place Sekhukhune United (who have played two additional matches).

Coach’s Insights on Team Dynamics
Ouaddou highlighted the team’s unity and the importance of player rotation.
“I’m really happy for Mabasa. As I said, I have exceptional players in the locker room, a very united group with great team spirit,” Ouaddou shared.
Reflecting on his management style, he noted: “Managing players is crucial in a big club. With such talented players, rotation becomes necessary, ensuring every player gets a chance to contribute to our goals. This is vital.”
