Terence Crawford Leaves Retirement on the Table While Hinting at Move to New Weight Class After Stunning Victory Over Canelo

TERENCE CRAWFORD may now look to conquer the middleweight division rather than retire at the height of his career.

The 37-year-old boxing sensation decisively defeated Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night, solidifying his title as the undisputed champion in a third weight class.

The Nebraska native has already conquered the super-lightweight and welterweight classes, culminating in a remarkable performance against Mexico’s former pound-for-pound champion.

Now, he is focused on completely dominating the 11st 6lb middleweight division, where he can choose his opponents as the new face of the sport.

After winning the Las Vegas bout unanimously across all judges’ scorecards, the undefeated champ with a record of 42-0 stated: “My instincts tell me I’ll talk with my team and possibly drop down to 160lb.”

“Some may have objections, but that’s inevitable when you’re exceptional and leading the pack.

Many fans overlook the hard work and commitment fighters invest in their careers.

“I performed excellently in the championship rounds because he was the champion; I knew I had to finish strong.

“This is an unprecedented conclusion for me tonight; this is genuinely the peak.

“Canelo was my last major challenge; there are no more Canelos. I have stepped into that role—the new face of boxing, the pound-for-pound champion. Now we’ll see what lies ahead.”

The middleweight division boasts a rich history but is currently lacking in visibility.

Kazakh fighter Janibek Alimkhanuly holds two titles, Carlos Adames has another, and Cuban Erislanda Lara completes the division with the fourth.

However, after showcasing his boxing skills, Crawford expressed his joy in fighting at a higher weight, instilling fear among titleholders.

He remarked: “I feel amazing; anyone can rise from obscurity.”

“Skeptics claimed I couldn’t market myself or lacked charisma; I was dismissed for years, but tonight’s performance proved them wrong.

“I have always sparred with larger opponents; I’ve consistently been more powerful against smaller fighters.

“Fighting at a higher weight class without the need to cut weight truly worked to my advantage tonight.”
