At 38 years old, the former superstar of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid took charge of the Ukrainian club earlier this year.

Turan aims to guide Shakhtar into the Europa League group stage, recently returning to his hometown for a qualifier against Besiktas.
Following a 4-2 win in the first leg in Istanbul, Turan was interviewed by club reporter Daria Bondar Savina.
During the two minutes of questioning, the Turkish manager appeared uneasy, frequently glancing away from her.
He nervously fiddled and kept his hands in his pockets, rarely making eye contact.
A video clip of the incident has recently surfaced on social media.
One fan commented: “He’s trying so hard.”
Savina serves as Shakhtar’s head of media and has over 500,000 followers on Instagram.

In another widely shared video, Turan was seen pretending to put his arm around a female supporter for a photograph but did not actually make contact.
Turan wed Aslıhan Dogan in 2018.
Shakhtar Donetsk coach Arda Turan refrained from touching a female fan during a photo opportunity.
The wedding was attended by Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
When a reporter attempted to interview Aslihan, Turan angrily intervened: “Show some respect, or I’ll crush your head and eyes! You’re addressing my wife.”
The couple has two children: Hamza Arda, aged six, and Asil Aslan, aged five.
Turan’s football journey has been filled with dramatic incidents.
In 2019, he received a suspended prison sentence of two years and eight months after being convicted of aggravated assault and illegal firearm possession.
This episode unfolded after Turan allegedly approached Turkish pop star Berkay’s wife, Ozlem Ada Sahin, to express admiration.
When Berkay confronted him, Turan allegedly broke his nose and followed him to the hospital.
At the hospital, he reportedly brandished a firearm, claiming he was unaware of Berkay’s marital status, and later expressed remorse for his actions.
