Since acquiring the club in 2021, Reynolds and McElhenney have transformed Wrexham, elevating it from the National League to the Championship with remarkable speed, driven by their ambitious vision.
Key to this incredible rise has been their monetary commitment to players who exceed the club’s current talent pool, attracting those capable of outshining the competition.
This summer marked a significant milestone as the club sought to attract former Manchester United and Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, 33, to their team.
Eriksen, a Denmark international with 144 caps, parted ways with Manchester United at the end of the season after concluding a lucrative £150,000-per-week contract.
Wrexham’s eagerness to sign the Champions League veteran was evident, with CEO Michael Williamson presenting a two-year plan to Eriksen that outlined their vision of reaching the Premier League.
According to reports from the Mail Online, Eriksen was intrigued by the “enticing” offer but ultimately opted to decline, aspiring to continue playing in higher-tier football next season.
Commenting to the Mail, Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots stated, “Wrexham is enhancing everything both on and off the pitch, and it’s an impressive project, represented well by individuals like Michael.”
Despite their unsuccessful attempt with Eriksen, Wrexham’s ambitions and strategies are gaining traction in the transfer market.

There are indications that news of their pursuit of Eriksen has circulated, transforming the perception of potential players available to the Championship newcomers.
Among those intrigued by the developments was former England international and Premier League player Conor Coady.

Coady, 32, was soon approached by Wrexham’s transfer team and secured a two-year deal at the Racecourse after the club agreed to pay approximately £2m for his release from Leicester City.
Like Eriksen, Coady was attracted to a project that emphasized not only player enhancement but also improvements to facilities.
Construction is currently ongoing for a new 7,750-seat Kop stand that will boost the stadium’s total capacity to 18,000, exceeding that of Premier League sides such as Bournemouth and Brentford.
Moreover, a new £1.7m hybrid pitch with undersoil heating has been installed this summer to comply with FIFA and UEFA standards.
There will undoubtedly be fresh talent showcasing their skills on that pitch, as Wrexham has already secured EIGHT new players this summer.
They are reportedly poised to allocate a remarkable £20MILLION as a summer budget for manager Phil Parkinson, a figure that has rapidly circulated in the transfer market, leading agents and clubs to propose their players to Wrexham.
An insider mentioned to the Mail, “It feels a bit chaotic, with agents somewhat in control.”
Nevertheless, Wrexham seems satisfied with their financial expenditures, committing £11.1m from that hefty budget.
This investment has been directed towards emerging talents such as Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United, Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest, and new full-back Liberato Cacace from Italian outfit Empoli.

Windass, who parted ways with Wednesday following a mutual agreement amidst financial difficulties, drew interest from several other Championship teams but ultimately chose Wrexham.
The club also acquired Welsh international goalkeeper Danny Ward from Leicester City on a free transfer.
There’s speculation that a marquee signing may still be on the horizon, with reports suggesting Wrexham is nearing a club-record £7.5MILLION deal to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town.
This deal reportedly received preliminary approval last week, although Broadhead’s transfer awaits clearance from Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna.
Wrexham will need all their new acquisitions to be ready as they face a challenging opening match in the Championship.
The Red Dragons are set to take on relegated Premier League side Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday, an encounter that will test their readiness for life in the second tier.
