Thembinkosi Lorch, the forward for Wydad Casablanca, has expressed his excitement about facing his favorite team, Manchester City, in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
The Moroccan club finds itself in Group G, alongside the English titan Manchester City, Italian stalwarts Juventus, and UAE’s Al Ain.
Wydad’s journey in the tournament will kick off against Pep Guardiola’s City at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 18.
Just four days later, they will compete against Juventus at the same venue. Their final group clash will be against Al Ain on June 26 at Audi Field in Washington.
However, the matchup Lorch is most eager for is against the reigning champions Manchester City. He joined Wydad on loan from his previous team, coached by Rulani Mokwena, who shares a deep admiration for City and Guardiola, especially his distinctive approach.

Lorch is currently on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, who are also taking part in the expanded tournament in the United States.
“I’m really excited,” said Lorch. “As I mentioned before, Manchester City and Juventus are top teams. I support Man City, and it would be amazing for me to play against them to observe their style of play and learn from it, as they are performing at the highest level.”
The FIFA Club World Cup final is scheduled for July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New York, and Lorch hopes Wydad will compete for what promises to be the pinnacle of club football.
