
Tragically, former MLS standout and Israeli international Gadi Kinda has passed away at the age of 31.
The attacking midfielder lost his life after a “complex medical battle” over recent weeks, as reported by his club, Maccabi Haifa.

Maccabi Haifa released a statement announcing the tragic news, noting that Kinda last played for the team in March.
Just two weeks prior, the club had updated fans about Kinda’s hospitalization due to his ongoing health issues.
Kinda, who earned 10 caps for the Israeli national team, joined Maccabi Haifa last year after a four-season stint with MLS club Sporting Kansas City.
His former teammates honored him by posing with his jersey before their match against the Portland Timbers earlier this month.
Head coach Kerry Zavagnin remarked on Kinda’s passing, stating, “It’s still a raw emotion.
“Clearly, the club and the group are deeply affected by this. It underscores how much he meant to all of us.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
“He was an electrifying presence at our club, and he will be sorely missed.”

He was described as “a pleasure to be around daily.” No matter the challenges he faced, he consistently approached each day with positivity.
Everyone—from the chefs and support staff to the coaches and players—felt uplifted in his presence, as reflected in the significant outpouring of grief following this tragic news.

Born in Ethiopia, Kinda moved to Israel at age three, an experience that fueled his love for football.
As a child, he joined FC Ashdod’s academy, making his senior debut at just 17.
He later transferred to Beitar Jerusalem before making a significant move to the United States to play for Sporting KC.
During his tenure in Kansas City, he made 80 appearances, netted 16 goals, and provided 17 assists.
Kinda earned 10 caps for the Israeli national team, including a notable matchup against Cristiano Ronaldo in a game against Portugal.
