In a historic decision, TEN batters were dismissed without a single ball being bowled, showcasing unusual tactics in the world of cricket.
Surprisingly, this bold strategy turned out to be a brilliant move, helping the team secure a win in their World Cup qualifier.

The United Arab Emirates faced off against Qatar in Thailand, requiring a win to stay at the top of their group in the Women’s 2026 T20 World Cup Asian qualifiers.
Only one team will progress to the Super 3 stage of Asia’s qualifiers, competing for a place in the Global Qualifier, which leads to next year’s tournament in England.
The UAE’s openers accumulated an impressive 192 runs without losing a wicket after 16 overs.
However, threatening rain loomed, putting the match outcome at risk.
In T20 cricket, teams cannot declare their innings like in Test matches.
This meant the UAE needed to finish their innings.
As a solution, coach Ahmed Raza suggested the innovative tactic of having ten batters retire.
This resulted in the UAE’s openers giving up their unbeaten runs, followed by eight more teammates donning their full kit and retiring one after the other in a stunning display.

The UAE remarkably transitioned from 192-0 after 16 overs to 192 all out in the same period, despite no wickets falling to Qatar’s bowlers.
Ranked 52nd globally, Qatar struggled to handle the pressure from the UAE bowlers.

Consequently, Qatar was bowled out for just 29 runs in 11.1 overs, giving the UAE a commanding 163-run victory.
Coach Raza commented: “As the innings unfolded, we heard thunder and noticed light drizzle.
“With the thunder and drizzle, we needed to ensure we completed the game due to the adverse weather.
“It was already drizzling at the start of our bowling innings, and we were concerned about the thunderstorm.
“I approached the umpires to ask about the possibility of declaring, but that’s not an option in white-ball cricket.
“I later asked the match referee if it was allowed for the entire team to retire.
“Time was running out; this was strictly to secure a result.
“This decision was made with the utmost courtesy towards all involved, including our opponents.
“Everything that occurred was in line with the regulations and was clearly communicated with the match referee.
“This extraordinary development should not overshadow our captain’s century, our opening partnership of 192, and the outstanding performance of our bowlers.”
