LIVERPOOL fans are thrilled with the prospect that Federico Chiesa may be granted a rare starting position this Sunday, following the new Pope’s recent address where his name was mentioned.
Cardinal Robert Prevost from the United States has been appointed as the successor to Pope Francis and will take the name Pope Leo XIV.

Pope Leo XIV has been elected as the 267th pontiff, having previously served as the Bishop of Chiclayo in Peru.
He delivered his inaugural address from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica, acknowledging the contributions of his predecessor.
In his speech, delivered in Italian, he referenced “Chiesa” multiple times, translating to “church.”
This repeated mention has led Liverpool fans to speculate that Chiesa might be included in the starting lineup against Arsenal this Sunday.
Leo XIV brought up “Chiesa” seven times, notably twice as many as the number of Premier League matches the former Juventus star has played this season.
One supporter exclaimed: “POPE KEEPS SAYING CHIESA, HE’S STARTING ON SUNDAY.”
Another tweeted: “The new Pope mentioned Chiesa. Surely a sign for Slot to give him more playing time.”
A third fan pondered: “What do you think about the Pope referencing Chiesa so often? Will the Vatican make a cheeky bid for him during the summer transfer window?”

A fan added: “The new Pope clearly admires Chiesa—seven mentions! I heard Totti’s name came up too. He knows his football.”
Someone else remarked: “Federico Chiesa was referenced in the new Pope’s speech more times than he’s actually played for Liverpool.”

Chiesa joined Liverpool last summer for £12.5 million from Juventus, but securing a consistent spot in the squad has been challenging for him.
He has played just five Premier League matches without any goals or assists to his name.
However, he did score during the FA Cup against Accrington Stanley and found the net in the League Cup final against Newcastle.
Liverpool is gearing up to face Arsenal at Anfield, having already secured the Premier League title for the 20th time with a win over Tottenham Hotspur in April.
However, all is not well for the club; they suffered a 3-1 loss to Chelsea last week, which interrupted their guard of honor.
Furthermore, key defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced that he will depart the club at the end of the season, with a transfer to Real Madrid anticipated.
