Chiefs’ Leading Scorer Poised to Spark Showdown with Pirates

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel, who leads the team in goals for the Nedbank Cup, is excited to face Orlando Pirates in the impending final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday [15:30].

With his injury behind him, Miguel is radiating confidence after weeks away from the pitch.

The absence of the Amakhosi vice-captain was notably felt in the team’s recent fixtures, including the semifinal against Mamelodi Sundowns and the league encounter with Pirates, where he remained on the bench without playing.

Fully recovered now, Miguel is anticipated to start in the final. “I’m completely ready for the final,” he declared, having netted three goals in the tournament, including a penalty during the quarterfinal against Stellenbosch.

“This is a final, and there’s no room for doubt. I went through an injury, but I’m now fully prepared for it.”

Miguel emphasized the significance of their semifinal triumph over Sundowns, which gave the squad a crucial confidence boost as they head into the final.

Despite suffering three losses to Sundowns this season, Chiefs managed to secure a win in their fourth encounter, claiming a place in the final.

“We faced Sundowns three times this season, but what took place in the semifinal? We demonstrated that we can rise to the challenge,” Miguel noted.

However, he insisted that their focus is now on the Pirates, acknowledging that each match demands a different strategy.

“Our concentration is on Pirates, as we shouldn’t compare the Sundowns game to the Pirates game. This is a unique matchup, a final, and it’s a different team, so we need to adapt to their gameplay,” he added.

The final promises to be an exhilarating showdown between two Soweto giants, both eager to claim the trophy.

Chiefs are determined to end their ten-year trophy drought, while Pirates aim to successfully defend their title. With Miguel reinstated, Chiefs are set to harness his experience and defensive prowess.
