MANUEL NEUER’S wife has decided to take a step back from her professional sports career.
Anika, 24, married the Bayern Munich goalkeeper, 39, in November 2023, and they welcomed their son, Luca, last year.

Anika is a professional handball athlete, currently playing for ESV 1927 Regensburg in Germany’s second division.
However, the left-winger has decided to step back from her team to concentrate on motherhood.
In her statement, she conveyed, “The decision was incredibly difficult for me. I genuinely enjoy my team and the camaraderie with the girls.
“I don’t see this break as the end of my handball journey; I simply need more time with my son.
“I’ll sincerely miss the team and the sport, so I want to cherish our final matches and conclude this wonderful season on a positive note.”
Team coach Bernhard Goldbach commented, “Ani’s achievements on and off the field this season are noteworthy.
“She returned from maternity leave stronger than ever, participating in every game this season. We have nothing but admiration for that.”
Neuer and Anika had a secret wedding with no public announcement, although Anika later updated her surname on Instagram.

She has frequently been spotted in the stands cheering for her husband.
The two-time Champions League and World Cup champion recently dismissed retirement rumors by signing a new contract with Bayern, extending until summer 2026.

Neuer has played 33 matches across all competitions this season.
