Antony’s Smart Move: A Quiet Dig at Man Utd While Opting for Betis Over Big Transfers

ANTONY claims that his move from Manchester United to Real Betis is the best decision he has ever made.

The £85.5 million Brazilian forward, aged 25, experienced a challenging period at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

Executives at the Red Devils decided to allow him to go on loan during the January transfer window, and he unexpectedly chose to join Manuel Pellegrini at Betis in Seville.

Nonetheless, the transfer has been advantageous for everyone involved, with the Spanish club keen to extend his stay for another year.

Antony and his representative are scheduled to discuss his long-term future with United this month.

He stated: “The best decision I’ve ever made was coming to Betis.”

“I’m happy — and when I’m happy, everything falls into place.”

“It’s still early. I’m uncertain about what the future holds, but I’m really enjoying my time here.”

Antony stressed that consistent playing time in a positive atmosphere meant more to him than chasing a high-profile transfer.

“Even though I recognize my talent, I placed a higher priority on finding a place where I could be happy, despite more lucrative offers,” he added.

“Scoring goals and providing assists is important, but being happy is even more crucial.”

Antony’s outstanding performances at Betis have drawn the attention of Atletico Madrid, who might pursue him this summer while United looks to sell.

Reports indicate that the La Liga club might need to invest between £34 million and £43 million for the winger.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could encounter difficulties retaining captain Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese star has been approached by a Saudi Arabian club offering an impressive £65 million per season on a three-year deal via Al-Hilal.

Fernandes has not yet responded, and the club is reluctant to let go of their star player.

This situation arises as United is believed to aim for the departure of at least 10 players this summer for significant rebuilding.

Initially, four players are nearly certain to leave: Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelof.

United also plans to permanently sell on-loan stars Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho to reinvest in a new goalscorer.

Casemiro will also be available for sale as the Manchester giants strive to generate funds for new signings.
