Tommy Fury Reveals Boxing Comeback with Unexpected Opponent After Overcoming His ‘Toughest Challenge’ Yet

TOMMY FURY has revealed his return to boxing in Budapest on May 9.

The 25-year-old athlete has been out of action since his win over KSI in October 2023.

With an undefeated record of 10-0, Fury’s anticipated return to the ring next month will see him face an opponent yet to be disclosed.

In an Instagram update announcing the news, TNT stated: “Two years out. One surgery.”

“The most significant challenge I’ve encountered has been the mental battle of being away from the sport.”

“However, I’m coming back stronger, sharper, and more HUNGARY than ever.”

“May 9th, Budapest… It’s showtime. Let’s go!”

Prior to his match against KSI, Fury edged out Jake Paul in a narrow split decision in February 2023.

Team Paul claims that Fury declined a $6 million (£4.5 million) offer for a rematch on Netflix last year.

A member of Paul’s team has recently indicated that another lucrative opportunity for Fury to face him again is unlikely.

Paul’s promotional partner Nakisa Bidarian expressed to SunSport: “Tommy was given an amazing chance to lead a fight against Jake on Netflix, but they miscalculated expectations.”

“Jake won’t ever extend that kind of opportunity again. Now if Tommy Fury approached Jake and said, ‘Here’s $20 million to fight me, and I’m going to make $20 million,’ more power to him.”

“But they never made a single offer, while we’ve attempted repeatedly to arrange that rematch.”

“If you genuinely believe in your chances against Jake Paul, you should have eagerly taken the chance to fight him for $6 million plus earnings on Netflix.”

“It’s just absurd that they didn’t.”

During Fury’s lengthy break, Paul has stayed active in the boxing world.

Since his only defeat to TNT, Paul has won against Nate Diaz, Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Mike Perry, and even Mike Tyson.

Fury was set to fight Darren Till on January 18 in Manchester but surprisingly pulled out after Till threatened to “kick” him in the head.

The former UFC competitor remained on the card and instead fought, defeating Anthony Taylor.
