TAI WOFFINDEN has announced that he is “recovering” after a horrific crash that left him in a coma.
The UK’s top speedway rider was involved in a collision with two other participants, crashing into the airfence at high speed while racing for Rzeszow two weeks ago.

Woffinden, 34, was airlifted to a hospital in Krosno, where he underwent emergency surgery for multiple fractures and a chest injury.
He remained in a medically induced coma while he recuperated from three major surgeries.
Now, he is sitting up in the hospital in Poland and has communicated for the first time since the accident.
He expressed, “Hello everyone, it seems that my injuries and being in an induced coma are serious.”
“I’m on my way to recovery, but please be patient with me for a bit longer. I need some additional time to rest and gather my thoughts. I’ll keep everyone updated later this week.”
“I want to express my gratitude for everyone’s love and support from around the globe.”
His teammate and world No.2, Robert Lambert, paid tribute to his friend and role model.
He said, “Tai has endured an extremely challenging year, which is part of the sport.”
“It can be incredibly rewarding or exceptionally challenging, but we are all aware of the risks, and it’s heartbreaking to witness something like this happen to him.”
“I’m sure every rider sends him their best wishes, and we hope for his full recovery.”

Another Great Britain teammate, World No.4 Dan Bewley, commented, “It’s always difficult when any rider gets injured, especially in such a serious way as Tai did in the recent crash.”
“He’s faced quite a bit of adversity over the past few years, and he’s been determined to come back stronger than ever.”
“Every time he tries to recover, another setback seems to emerge, which is disheartening.”
“Hopefully, he is stable now, and things will start moving in a more positive direction for him.”
Faye Woffinden shared last week that her husband was “fighting, healing, and resting.”
After flying from Australia to Poland to be by his side, Faye and his mother, Sue, stated: “Tai has been through more than we could have ever imagined.”
“He has experienced multiple broken bones, undergone major surgeries, and received blood transfusions—his body has faced so much.”
“Nonetheless, his spirit remains resilient. Our hope is unwavering. We are holding on tightly, trusting each day will bring more healing, strength, and more of him back to us.”
“The love, generosity, and support we’ve received from everyone have been profoundly beautiful. Words cannot express how truly grateful we are.”
“While we are cautious to mention individuals for fear of overlooking anyone, we extend our heartfelt thanks to those who have aided in saving Tai.”
“To the person we cannot name, whose swift actions arranged for the helicopter to reach the track so quickly, and to the medical team that cared for Tai before he even arrived at the hospital—your efforts provided him with a fighting chance, and we will always remember that.”
“To Dr. Paweł Jasiński, for coordinating every surgical procedure and ensuring Tai receives the best possible care. To Rafał Roger Piątek, who has stood by Tai’s side and ours throughout this ordeal. To Basia Karczewska, for her continuous support and kindness.”
“To the exceptional medical professionals in Rzeszów. To the Stal Rzeszów team, particularly Paweł Piskorz and Michał Drymajło, your unwavering support means everything to us.”
“To our family, friends, and everyone who has reached out, offered help, or simply kept us in their thoughts—thank you, from the depths of our hearts.”
“Your love has guided us through the darkest days. We will never forget it.”
