Kaizer Chiefs have successfully secured their spot in the upcoming season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
This progress comes after their 2-1 victory against Mamelodi Sundowns during the Nedbank Cup semi-final at Loftus Stadium last Sunday.
With several league matches remaining, Orlando Pirates, who achieved a 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants earlier on Sunday, appear likely to finish the season in either first or second place in the Betway Premiership alongside the leading Sundowns.
Pirates, currently in second place in the league, are scheduled to face off against Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup final on May 10 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
If Pirates conclude the season in second place, Chiefs will automatically qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

This means that even if Chiefs lose to Pirates in the cup final, their qualification for the Confederation Cup is secured due to Pirates’ advancement to the CAF Champions League.
As a result, Chiefs’ final standing in the league becomes irrelevant, as reaching the cup final has provided them with an alternative route to international competition.
Entries for the CAF Confederation Cup are awarded to the Nedbank Cup champions and the team finishing third in the league, while the CAF Champions League spots are allocated to the top two teams.
