Ruben Amorim Set to Hold Major Fire Sale of Man Utd’s Underperforming Stars in Urgent Bid to Raise £200m Transfer Budget

RUBEN AMORIM is poised to receive a £200 million transfer budget — provided he first offloads his underperforming players from Manchester United.

United aims to execute a thorough summer makeover, clearing out a significant number of surplus players — allowing the manager to reinvest most of the earnings.

Manager Amorim realizes that his budget will heavily depend on transfer fees from outgoing players and savings on wages. However, the management at Old Trafford believes this target is achievable.

This indicates that players such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho could be offloaded, along with Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and possibly one of the young prospects Kobbie Mainoo or Alejandro Garnacho.

Despite a disappointing season for the Red Devils, club executives are hopeful that there will be enough interest in their sidelined stars to generate a substantial amount.

Rashford, 27, has shown signs of regaining his form since moving on loan to Aston Villa, which might lead to a permanent deal.

Even if Villa’s manager Unai Emery chooses not to pursue it, United is confident that the resurgence of the England forward has caught the eye of other clubs, with a selling price of around £45m.

Jadon Sancho, 25, however, has faced challenges during his spell at Chelsea, yet a complete transfer remains a possibility.

United would be willing to accept just over half of the £73m they spent to acquire him from Borussia Dortmund, with an ear open at that valuation — potentially allowing a return to his former club.

Brazilian Antony finds himself in a similar situation, having performed well during his loan at Real Betis, triggering interest from the Spanish side to finalize a permanent move.

Betis have already been made aware that securing a permanent deal for the winger will require £35m.

However, they may need to qualify for the Champions League to finance such a move, which remains a possibility.

Why Ruben Amorim’s Man United system is broken

Man Utd ratings vs Lyon as two Onana blunders earn under-fire keeper a ONE out of 10

MANCHESTER UNITED faced disappointment due to the blunders of goalkeeper Andre Onana, whose errors resulted in a 2-2 draw against Lyon in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

The season-defining match heated up further after a verbal clash between Onana and former United player Nemanja Matic, who labeled the goalkeeper as “one of the worst in United history.”

This stirred the home crowd, which voiced its opinions as Ruben Amorim fielded the same team for the first time since his appointment after the Manchester derby.

However, Onana struggled to save Thiago Almada’s inswinging free-kick, resulting in the first goal being conceded.

Leny Yoro equalized just before half-time after Manuel Ugarte’s attempt.

Joshua Zirkzee seemed to give the visitors the lead late with a header from a Fernandes cross.

Yet, United’s joy was short-lived as Onana mishandled a shot directly to Rayan Cherki, who scored to keep the tie uncertain.

The potential choice to sell one of the promising players, Garnacho or Mainoo, will likely provoke controversy.

Local talent Mainoo, 19, has drawn the interest of Chelsea this summer, raising questions about his future, as United hesitates to meet his wage expectations.

However, £50m-rated winger Garnacho is more likely to leave after falling out of favor with the Argentina national team.

The 20-year-old does not fit smoothly into Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 formation, with Napoli showing longstanding interest.

Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia, 25, currently with PSV Eindhoven, is also expected to be sold for around £10m.

Despite expressing a desire to remain, many believe Andre Onana may soon depart.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, in addition to 33-year-old Casemiro.

Removing the Brazilian’s £350,000 weekly wage from the payroll would represent a significant saving.

Christian Eriksen, 33, is also expected to leave at the end of this season, further supporting Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s efforts to decrease United’s £172 million wage bill.

Amorim has already acknowledged that there won’t be any marquee signings this summer.

While Ratcliffe is open to approving substantial transfer fees, he is not inclined to provide hefty contracts.

This suggests that future targets will receive offers that are heavily reliant on performance-related bonuses.
