CODE PURPLE (3.45 Musselburgh)
Ben Haslam’s six-year-old performs exceptionally well at Musselburgh, boasting an impressive form record of 121122 at this Scottish track. This is no small feat, and in his last appearance here, he was narrowly beaten by just a short-head. That race on the Flat seemed to be a preparation for him, as he stumbled from the start and didn’t quite deliver his best. He is currently just 1lb above the rating at which he finished second last November, and after a recent all-weather outing, he’s fitter than many of his competitors, poised to enhance his track performance with Paul Mulrennan riding.
MARHABA GHAIYYATH (5.45 Musselburgh, nb)
This horse enjoyed two easy wins in good novice races on the all-weather during the winter. He fits the profile of a horse likely to do well in turf handicaps and is the only competitor in the race with a recent outing. An introductory rating of 84 could be quite favorable.
STOCKPYLE (6.15 Musselburgh, treble)
He finished strongly at Doncaster last time after patiently waiting for an opening. With only a 2lb increase and a strong pace to follow, he is positioned well to make a decisive move in the stretch.
NEIGH BOTHA (3.25 Stratford, Lucky 15)
After several outings over fences, he is expected to perform at a higher level now that he has returned to hurdles.
