Khama Billiat, a former standout for Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, scored his first goal of the 2024/25 Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League season in a 1-1 draw against his former team Yadah FC at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday.
Following the match, newly promoted Scottland surged to second place in the league standings, accumulating 11 points from six matches, only two points shy of the 2022/23 Zimbabwean champions, Ngezi Platinum Stars.
The 34-year-old forward started the season on a challenging note, missing the opening match against Triangle United due to injury, which affected his ability to mirror the remarkable form he showcased the previous season.
Since returning to Zimbabwe last year, Billiat quickly became the league’s highest-paid player, repaying Yadah FC’s faith in him by scoring an impressive 13 goals and providing 11 assists in 26 matches after a lengthy hiatus following his departure from Chiefs.

His remarkable performances brought him accolades, as he finished as the second runner-up for the Soccer Star of the Year award, claimed the Fans’ Player of the Year title, and made a return to the Zimbabwe national team under coach Michael Nees, helping them qualify for the 2025 AFCON.

However, Billiat’s stint at Yadah was short-lived as he moved to newcomers Scottland FC, which is led by Walter Musona, the younger sibling of the renowned former Chiefs player Knowledge Musona, who currently competes in Saudi Arabia for Al-Akhdoud.
With a better salary at his new club, which he joined in January of this year, Billiat has already contributed with one goal and two assists. It remains to be seen whether the 2016 CAF Inter-Club Player of the Year runner-up can sustain this momentum.
