Spanish golfer Jose Luis Ballester encountered an unusual predicament at the Masters when an urgent need for relief led him to Rae’s Creek.
The current US Amateur champion candidly admitted that he had to take “an emergency” leak in the famous stream that borders the 13th hole at Augusta.

While paired with defending champion Scottie Scheffler and two-time Major winner Justin Thomas, Ballester tried to evade the crowd’s attention. However, he was noticed by spectators who began to cheer him on.
He recalled: “I was standing there thinking that I really needed to pee.”
“I wasn’t sure where to go, and since JT had a problem on the green regarding a lost ball, I thought I might just sneak over to the river, hoping people wouldn’t see me too much.”
“Then they cheered. Probably one of the only times I got applause today, and they cheered loudly, which was quite humorous.”
When asked if he was worried about any repercussions from the Masters officials, the 21-year-old Ballester dismissed the thought.
He remarked: “Yes, people saw me. But I wasn’t embarrassed at all. If I had to do it again, I’d definitely do it.”
Besides his unexpected restroom break, the amateur golfer finished with a score of four-over 76 in his Masters debut.
His playing partner, Scottie Scheffler, began his title defense with a spectacular 62-foot putt for an incredible birdie.

In addition, he later made an impressive 42-foot putt towards the end of his round, demonstrating his potential to challenge competitors for a third Augusta title in four years.
Scheffler’s remarkable opening putt sparked an enthusiastic response that echoed throughout Augusta.

This certainly must have unsettled Rory McIlroy and the other contenders once they learned the cause of the commotion.
As Scheffler raised his putter to acknowledge the deafening applause from the crowd, he appeared slightly surprised.
He recognized that this was a significant boost as he sought to join the elite ranks of players who have won back-to-back Masters.
The legends who have achieved this include Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Nick Faldo, collectively owning 14 green jackets.
At just 28, Scheffler is already competing in his sixth Masters and has established himself as a proven specialist at Augusta.
Having won in 2022 and 2023, he has never finished outside the top twenty, and only twice has he failed to shoot par or better in his last 24 rounds.
After such a confident start, it’s clear that Scheffler is poised to maintain his remarkable record this time.
He finished with a four-under-par 68, placing him at the top of the early clubhouse leaderboard alongside Canadian star Corey Conners, who also carded a 68 with three birdies in his last four holes.
Meanwhile, Justin Rose excelled with a SEVEN-UNDER 65, putting him in the lead as Friday’s rounds approach.
