Known as Sir Segundo Castillo, he currently manages his home club, Barcelona SC.
The 42-year-old made an effort to boost morale during their Copa Libertadores match against Argentina’s River Plate in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.
His eye-catching pink dinner jacket caught the attention of everyone as he led his team to a 0-0 draw.
The fashionable former player has been seen in black and white tuxedos for previous Barcelona fixtures.
However, his recent sartorial choice has sparked a great deal of online mockery, with memes of Marge Simpson from The Simpsons in a pink dress circulating widely.
Castillo remarked, “When I emerge from my dressing room and my players see me like this, it brings smiles and makes them feel a bit freer.
“The players know they are well taken care of.
“There is a positive vibe between them and the coaching staff.”
