Rice will be remembered for his fantastic free-kick goals scored in the second half.

These marks his first direct free-kicks at the club level, showcasing his importance in set-piece situations for the Gunners this season.

However, several fans contend that his strikes were made possible by the insights of set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.

The French coach was seen gesturing on the sidelines prior to the kick, indicating a curve motion.

Fans interpreted this as Jover advising Rice to curl the ball around the Real Madrid wall, which he managed to do successfully.

Many fans praised Jover’s influence on the goals, with one declaring: “Mr. Jover creates the magic.”

Another expressed: “NICOLAS JOVER, MY HERO FOR LIFE.”

A third remarked: “Let’s get a Nico Jover statue at the Emirates by next week, please.”

However, Rice revealed after the match that Jover was actually suggesting he cross the ball to the far post.

He said: “He was telling me to cross… it just didn’t make sense, and I’m glad I took the shot because it turned out to be a magical moment.

“He was saying to cross!… I know [he defied everyone]. That’s the point Bukayo made about if you feel it, just go for it.

“I contemplated it, glanced at the ball, and at the keeper and thought ‘I can bend this around the outside’.”

Rice then shared a laugh at Jover when he saw footage of the coach celebrating his goal, pointing out that despite Jover instructing him to cross, he ultimately scored instead.
