Luis Perez did not participate in the match as an unused substitute for Real Valladolid in their 4-0 defeat to Getafe on Sunday.
Currently sitting at the bottom of the table with ten points separating them from safety, Valladolid, which is owned and chaired by Brazilian Ronaldo, is facing relegation after suffering ten losses in their last eleven games.
Clearly, there are ongoing internal conflicts within the squad.
As the second half unfolded on Sunday, with the score at 3-0 against them, tensions began to rise.
After being substituted, the frustrated striker Juan Miguel Latasa took his place on the bench.
Suddenly, right-back Luis Perez lost his temper, noticeably upset when Latasa disregarded his offer of a handshake.
Perez, 30, climbed over teammate Eray Comert, who was seated between them, and struck Latasa on the arm with his fist.
Latasa, 24, remained unresponsive as Comert, 27, who had also been substituted, intervened to calm the furious Perez.
Perez continued to shout at Latasa while Comert attempted to de-escalate the situation, even covering his teammate’s mouth with his hand.
Once Perez settled down, a member of the Valladolid staff came over, leading him away.

On Monday, both Latasa and Perez released a joint statement apologizing for their unacceptable and intense confrontation.
They expressed: “No sporting result or frustration can justify the disrespect or behavior we exhibited yesterday on the bench.
“We deeply apologize to our teammates, the club, and the fans.
“We express our regret to the supporters without any justification for our actions and with the humility of those who have acknowledged a mistake and wish to make amends.”
Moreover, they confirmed they have personally reached out to the rest of the team and are ready to accept any disciplinary actions from the club.
Real Valladolid condemned their behavior and is considering disciplinary measures.
The club stated: “We deeply regret the image presented by our players.
“The frustration resulting from our current sporting circumstances should be transformed into increased commitment, improved attitudes, and better performances, never into division or confrontation.”
The Valladolid roster features former Chelsea sensation Kenedy and on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein.
They are set to face Atletico Madrid in their next LaLiga match on Monday night, with a match against league leaders Barcelona also looming this season.
