Player Ratings – DEFENDERS
MYLES LEWIS-SKELLY – 9: Is this young talent truly only 18 years old? Someone should verify his age! On such a pivotal night, he displayed remarkable composure, effortlessly moving into midfield, generating space, and skillfully evading his markers when in possession.
There were a few tense moments early on, but that adds to Lewis-Skelly’s appeal at the moment, alongside his thrilling style of play.
JAKUB KIWIOR – 7: It was a vital match for the Polish player, and his initial touch left much to be desired as he let a throw-in slip under his foot, allowing Kylian Mbappe an early scoring opportunity.
Additionally, a misplaced pass put William Saliba in a tough spot, with Mbappe getting a brief look at goal just before the offside flag went up. He was lucky not to receive a yellow card for a late tackle on Luka Modric right before halftime, yet he battled through the challenges regardless.
WILLIAM SALIBA – 9: He had the daunting task of keeping Kylian Mbappe at bay without his defensive partner Gabriel and managed to do so remarkably well at times.
The Frenchman is steadily emerging as one of the top defenders globally, displaying his talents against the very club that may attempt to lure him away from North London this summer.
JURRIEN TIMBER – 7: His first half was a blend of highs and lows, worsened by a rough late tackle from Kylian Mbappe that impacted his left ankle, requiring some time for recovery.
Although he demonstrated some impressive combinations with Bukayo Saka on the right, he was dispossessed by Jude Bellingham, leading to a precarious moment when Mbappe slipped in behind, which could have been detrimental.
