The Placepot bet requires you to select a horse to finish in the top SIX positions across the first six races at any meeting.

You can select multiple horses in one race – simply multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. For instance, 2x2x2x1x2x2 totals 32 lines.

You can place a stake of your choice, starting at 5p per line, costing a total of £1.60. At 10p per line, it would amount to £3.20, and so on. As long as at least one selection from each race finishes in the top positions, we will receive a payout!

Cheltenham New Year’s Day Placepot tips – Wednesday, January 1

LEG 1: Kalif Du Berlais, Vincenzo, Tedley

In a three-horse race, securing the winner is crucial to keep the Placepot alive. All three contenders are closely matched, so include them all in your selections.

LEG 2: Diva Luna

DIVA LUNA showcased an outstanding performance winning the esteemed mares’ bumper at Aintree during the Grand National meeting in April. It was disappointing to see her beaten when odds-on for her hurdles debut at Lingfield last time. She ran like a horse returning from a break, cruising comfortably before fading late. The increase in distance appears beneficial, and she enjoys a 7lb allowance against her rivals today.

LEG 3: Broadway Boy, Cloudy Glen

BROADWAY BOY could secure a well-deserved victory this season. He finished a commendable third in a tough handicap here in October and then performed admirably coming in second in the Coral Hennessy at Newbury last time. A 2lb increase for that performance seems fair, especially considering his fondness for this trip and track.

CLOUDY GLEN returned to form with a win at Haydock last month. Now racing off a career-high rating, he continues to represent the successful Venetia Williams stable.

LEG 4: Springwell Bay, Lisnamult Lad

SPRINGWELL BAY has shown improvement with each of his three chase outings and performed admirably behind a quality winner here last time. This distance suits him best, and he has shown consistency at Cheltenham, indicating there’s more to come from what appears a reasonable handicap mark.

LISNAMULT LAD won comfortably here in October before falling at Navan last time. He is only 3lb above his last victory and could pose a threat if he can bounce back.

LEG 5: Deep Cave, Catch Him Derry

DEEP CAVE has had just a couple of outings for Christian Williams and demonstrated improvement when finishing fifth here last month. He had some energy left in the tank and enjoys decent ground.

CATCH HIM DERRY underperformed at Haydock but is certainly capable of bouncing back.

LEG 6: Golden Ace, Langer Dan

GOLDEN ACE finished in a tightly contested Grade 2 at Ascot last month. She prevailed in the Dawn Run here last season, showcasing her affinity for this track while benefiting from a favorable weight allowance against male competitors.

LANGER DAN is among the most renowned hurdlers and narrowly missed out in a photo finish for a Grade 1 over a similar distance at Aintree in April after his Coral Cup victory at the Festival. He showed signs of rust on his return and is expected to perform significantly better today.
