AmaZulu co-head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has expressed deep concern over his team’s inability to capitalize on clear goal-scoring opportunities, despite securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday.
While the win provided crucial points, it also highlighted a recurring issue that could hinder Usuthu as the season progresses — erratic finishing in front of goal.
Following the match, Vilakazi openly criticized his team’s lack of composure in the attacking third.
”It’s hard to comprehend. We had roughly eight clear chances throughout the game, especially in the first half. We should have scored three or four goals, but it simply wasn’t our day,” Vilakazi admitted, as his team ascended to 11th place in the Betway Premiership standings with 12 points after 10 matches.
Notably, Tshepang Moremi missed three prime one-on-one opportunities without converting. Although Hendrick Ekstein’s goal in the 19th minute ultimately clinched the victory, AmaZulu’s persistent inability to make the most of their chances remains a major concern.
