MMA champion Cecilie Bolander was in tears following her title fight, despite the sport being ILLEGAL in her home country.
Originating from Norway, Bolander competes in a region where professional MMA remains BANNED.
Since 1981, combat sports that involve knockouts as a victory method have been banned, although this restriction was lifted for boxing in 2014.
However, MMA remains unrecognized, forcing Norwegian athletes to fight internationally.
Bolander is one such athlete, and she returns home as champion after defeating Lucie Pudilova for the bantamweight Oktagon title.
Overwhelmed with emotion, the 28-year-old passionately called for the sport’s legalization in Norway.
She stated: “Please legalise the sport in Norway!”
Starting her fighting career in 2021, Bolander made her professional debut just a year later.
She currently boasts a record of 4-1 after her recent victory over Pudilova in their rematch, having previously lost to her last September.
Celebrating her triumph, Bolander jubilantly circled the cage as the split-decision result was revealed.

Struggling to hold back tears, she shared: “This is hard! I didn’t anticipate going five rounds, I apologize.
“I prepared for five rounds, but I always hope for a quick finish. I trust we entertained you; I value that aspect of the sport.
“Firstly, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Oktagon for welcoming me so warmly.
“To all the supporters who stood by me since my last fight, I am eternally grateful.
“I love this sport with all my heart – it’s extremely tough, but it is made easier by fans like you. I’m very emotional, and I hope you can adjust to that!
“Thank you, Pudilova, for the amazing fight; and to my team, I love you all for everything we’ve shared together.
“To my friends, family, and teammates at Norwegian Top Team, you are my brothers, and I deeply appreciate your unwavering support.”
