MASON Mount has been granted approval to build a golf simulator at his £4million mansion in Cheshire, despite living next to a luxury golf resort.
The Manchester United midfielder, 25, sought to upgrade his garage for the project.
Nevertheless, he encountered possible opposition from the council planners, as the project could potentially disturb five nearby trees safeguarded by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO).
Mount decided to drop the original garage conversion plans and presented updated proposals for his new six-bedroom home, moving the extension 6ft away from the trees.
The revised plans still comprise a ground-floor golf simulator, as well as a gym, sauna, changing room, and office.
Additionally, Mount plans to use specially designed foundations to preserve the roots of the trees.
Council officials deemed the extension “appropriate,” citing the absence of objections from neighbors.
A planning officer remarked: “The proposed extension is seen as well-related to the existing property.
“The proposed development is considered a reasonable addition.
It is therefore accepted as a suitable form of development in the green belt.”
However, they did note: “The trees may create seasonal nuisance issues for the flat roof and will need pruning.”
Mount’s home already includes a variety of lavish amenities, featuring a pool room, gym, and two cinemas.
The sprawling estate overlooks a prestigious golf resort, providing beautiful views.
This information comes after the midfielder limped off with a muscle injury during the first half of the Manchester derby earlier this month.
He joined Old Trafford from Chelsea in 2023 for £55million but has only played in 33 out of a potential 78 matches in a United jersey.
A calf injury sidelined him for nearly four months last season, and a hamstring issue has restricted his involvement this season.
Mount’s opulent residence was built just two years ago and features large windows, five bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen and dining area, a cinema, orangery, and an office.
It is also equipped with multiple reception rooms, a first-floor glass balcony with decking, and an extra cinema in the loft.
Other notable footballers residing in the vicinity include Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, and Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
Representatives for Mount have been contacted for comments.
