Nabi Overcomes Frustration with Victory Against Chippa

Despite Kaizer Chiefs securing a narrow 1-0 win against Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, coach Nasreddine Nabi expressed his disappointment with the team’s overall display.

The Chiefs clinched a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a standout goal from Mdu Shabalala, who skillfully evaded several defenders before unleashing a powerful shot into the back of the net.

This win moved Chiefs up to seventh place in the league table, gathering 15 points from 10 matches and placing them just one point above both Chippa United and Golden Arrows. Notably, it also marked their first clean sheet in the league this season.

This victory ended Chiefs’ recent difficulties against Chippa in Durban. Nevertheless, the 2024 season has been challenging for the club, with only seven wins across all competitions, highlighting an urgent need for improvement. Chiefs have conceded goals in every league match this season, revealing areas that require attention.

“I believed the first half was encouraging, and we faced a team that was sitting deep,” Nabi remarked after the match.

“We controlled the first half entirely. At halftime, we emphasized the necessity of scoring a second goal. We were a bit cautious, not advancing into areas we wanted to exploit. For much of the match, we played with hesitation.

“With this form, we plan to build on it starting next year.”

Chiefs will resume their league campaign in 2025 with an away match against Cape Town City at DHL Stadium on January 5.
