The ASTON VILLA management has voiced its discontent with the FA, accusing them of lacking “credibility” after their appeal concerning Jhon Duran’s red card was denied.
Manager Unai Emery was enraged when referee Anthony Taylor’s decision to send off Colombian striker Jhon Duran, who has netted 12 goals, for a stamp on Fabian Schar of Newcastle on Boxing Day was not reversed by VAR.
Duran is now set to serve a three-match ban, with Villa executives Damian Vidagany and Monchi expressing their grievances over “all these unjust decisions.”
Former Villa player and club ambassador Ahmed Elmohamady described the FA’s rejection of their appeal as “disgraceful.”
Duran, 21, received a straight red from Taylor during the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle and will be unavailable for the upcoming Premier League encounter against Brighton, as well as matches against Leicester and an FA Cup third-round fixture versus West Ham.
Villa’s Director of Football Operations, Vidagany, declared: “Three matches for Jhon Duran. You know what? The biggest victim here is not Villa, but the integrity of the officials who made this call.
“We will persist in our fight; nothing will deter us, and we will rise above these unjust decisions. We will conduct ourselves with dignity.”
Monchi, the President of Football Operations, remarked: “We can accept an error because to err is human, but to continue to uphold the mistake casts doubts on the system.
“I hail from a place [Sevilla] where the motto is ‘never give up’. We will keep advocating for our club.”
Elmohamady added: “It’s utterly disgraceful; it was never a red card in the first place.”

The PGMOL asserts that VAR Graham Scott supported Taylor’s decision.
However, Emery expressed: “I can accept the opposing team calling for a red card, but VAR, please!
Aston Villa plans to build the Premier League’s largest beer hall as they unveil ambitious redevelopment plans next to the stadium.
“His reaction afterwards was ‘Sorry, sorry’. I don’t believe he kicked him intentionally.
“This punishment is excessive for this incident.”
Emery received backing from former Newcastle player Alan Shearer, who referred to the red card as “harsh,” noting that Duran lost his balance after twisting his left ankle prior to colliding with Schar.
