The 33-year-old Aspinall, a two-time semi-finalist, moved into the Last 16 of the PDC World Darts Championship for the first time in five years, dominating 4-0 against Goldfinger with a remarkable 60 percent success rate on his doubles.

The Stockport player, planning to take his family to Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland on Sunday, stated: “I’m in the Last 16 and it’s England vs Germany.

“It’s going to be incredible. The German fans are truly enthusiastic about darts – it will create a wonderful atmosphere.

“Expect a lot of football vibes. I excel in that environment and can’t wait to perform. Let’s hope for a fantastic show.”

Both players paused during the final leg as the audience erupted in applause while one fan completed his drinking challenge.

Aspinall humorously noted: “He was chugging a jug. Usually, you down a pint, but this guy was tackling a four-pint jug.

“I was just curious to see if he could finish it – he did, but then he got kicked out. Fair play to him!

“Incredible. And right after that, I misfired at the board when targeting the 18.”

A third fan remarked: “The greatest sport on the planet.”

Another said: “There’s nothing quite like it!”

Berlin’s Pietreczko defeated Lincolnshire’s Scott Williams 4-1 – a year after Williams’ careless comments about winning “two World Wars and one World Cup” concerning German fans.

Pietreczko, 30, shared: “There are many German fans with tickets here, creating a fantastic ambiance.

“The crowd support felt well-balanced, about 50-50, and it was great to compete against Scott in front of this audience.

“I almost toppled Luke Humphries last year, but now I’m through to the Last 16 and look forward to meeting him again in the semi-finals!”

Unseeded Ryan Joyce represented the North East by overcoming Ryan Searle – who scored an average of 100.97 – in a close 4-3 decision in the third round.
