Worries heightened regarding the dangerous Stelvio slope, which is set to host the 2026 Winter Olympics.

As per the French ski federation, Sarrazin, 30, was awake but had been diagnosed with a subdural hematoma, indicative of bleeding near the brain.

The French competitor was rapidly taken to a hospital and subsequently airlifted to the closest medical facility.

Following additional assessments, it was confirmed that the Olympian would undergo surgery on Friday evening, as indicated by the sport’s governing body, FIS.

Pietro Zazzi was also transported to a hospital after experiencing a separate crash.

The Italian ski federation reported that Zazzi sustained “a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg.”

The ski star was taken to Milan for surgery scheduled on Saturday.

Moreover, Swiss skier Josua Mettler also crashed on Friday and was later sent home for further evaluation of his knee injuries.

These incidents raised alarms over the safety of the Stelvio downhill course, which will be the route for the upcoming Milan-Cortina Olympics next winter.

Sarrazin’s teammate Nils Allegre commented on the situation: “In my clear opinion, they do not know how to prepare a course.”

“They’ve been preparing courses for 40 years, yet their results remain consistently hazardous.

“Perhaps not everyone will agree, but this is my firmly held opinion.

“It’s unacceptable; I’m baffled by what they aim to show, but having a course like this, just a year before hosting the Olympics, renders them unworthy of the Games.”
