Ashley Fletcher opened the scoring for Steve Bruce’s team just three minutes into the match.

Nevertheless, Mullin – who had a cameo in the famous film Deadpool & Wolverine thanks to Reynolds – ensured that Wrexham equalized with a breathtaking shot that could be a contender for FIFA’s prestigious Puskas award.

Despite the Racecourse Ground being enveloped in fog, the 30-year-old Mullin expertly brought the ball down from the air just outside Blackpool’s box.

With a careful touch using his thigh, he controlled the ball before driving toward the edge of the penalty area.

Even with his body angled away from the goal, Mullin managed to strike the ball cleanly, sending a powerful shot into the top corner of the net without letting it bounce.

This incredible goal sparked joyous celebrations among Wrexham supporters, who later watched their team secure victory with an 88th minute penalty from Steven Fletcher.

In response, Deadpool star Reynolds shared a clip of Mullin’s striking goal and captioned it: “This one. So pretty…”

Mullin responded to the American actor with a heartfelt message, stating: “Merry Christmas with love.”

The two have developed a surprising camaraderie since Reynolds and his Hollywood partner Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham in 2020.

Mullin even had a small part in Deadpool & Wolverine, playing a rendition of Reynolds’ character, Welshpool.

The pair frequently exchange messages after each match, and Mullin has even traveled to Las Vegas to spend time with Reynolds.

Fans have rallied behind Mullin’s sensational goal against Blackpool, urging for it to be recognized as the top goal of the year.

One fan questioned, “Do they have Puskas awards for League One?”

Another exclaimed, “F*****g Welshpool.”

A different supporter remarked, “Goal of the season… absolute tekkers.”

Yet another noted, “Scores goals of top quality over and over.”

Team owners, Reynolds and McElhenney, would be thrilled if Mullin’s stunning strike received the prestigious Puskas award recognition.

This worldwide accolade is awarded every year by FIFA for the most outstanding goal across all tiers of football.

It is named in honor of the legendary Hungarian forward Ferenc Puskas.

Three years ago, Erik Lamela secured the award for an impressive ‘rabona’ goal while playing for Tottenham against Arsenal.

In 2022, Warta Poznan’s Marcin Oleksy became the first-ever amputee player nominated for the award and ultimately took home the trophy.

Last year, Botafogo’s Guilherme Madruga bested Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Goncalves, who scored from the halfway line against Arsenal.

The 2024 award was presented to Alejandro Garnacho for his stunning bicycle kick for Manchester United against Everton.
