Sifiso Biyela, the chairman of Richards Bay, has confirmed that striker Thabang Sibanyoni will be leaving the club.
Sibanyoni joined Bay on a season-long loan from Mamelodi Sundowns during the off-season, but the arrangement has been terminated after just six months.
The 28-year-old forward, who spent the previous season on loan at the University of Pretoria from Sundowns, played in nine matches for Richards Bay but did not find the net.
Sibanyoni joined Bay after showcasing strong performances with Tuks last season, creating significant challenges for the KwaZulu-Natal side during the Promotion/Relegation playoffs in June.
“We will not be extending the loan agreement with Sibanyoni,” Biyela stated in an interview with Sportswire.
Sibanyoni’s last appearance for Bay was in the Carling Knockout Cup semi-final against Magesi FC, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat at King Zwelithini Stadium in November under former coach Brandon Truter.
Following that match, he has been absent for the team’s last four fixtures, including their victory over Golden Arrows on 14 December.
This exit comes on the heels of Siyethemba Sithebe, whose contract was terminated by the club after a disrespectful incident involving the technical team after their recent loss to SuperSport United.
At present, Bay is languishing in second from bottom position, accumulating eight points from 11 matches, and is scheduled to host league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at King Zwelithini Stadium this Saturday at 15:30.
