Man Utd Player Ratings: Bruno Fernandes Fails to Impress Against Wolves, While Lisandro Martinez Stands Out Among the Underperformers

Wolves achieved a surprising victory on Boxing Day, continuing Manchester United’s struggles.

The 2-0 defeat indicates that Ruben Amorim has now managed just two wins in his seven Premier League matches.

Currently, United are placed 14th in the league standings, a predicament worsened by Bruno Fernandes’ red card and Andre Onana conceding a goal straight from a corner kick.

Here’s how SunSport rated the player performances…

ANDRE ONANA: 4

He made a crucial reflex save from Jorgen Strand Larsen in the first half, but notably misread the trajectory of Cunha’s corner that resulted in the first goal – his claim of obstruction by Matt Doherty was dismissed.

LENY YORO: 5

Called up to the squad, he received a yellow card within four minutes for a foul on Cunha, leaving him vulnerable as he faced constant pressure from Wolves, eventually being substituted shortly after the hour mark.

HARRY MAGUIRE: 6

The England defender put in considerable effort to keep United competitive against relentless pressure for long periods, managing to avert danger until the end of the match and even attempting a header during stoppage time.

LISANDRO MARTINEZ: 6

Partnered with Maguire, he made it challenging for Wolves, demonstrating tenacity with key tackles late in the game before being caught on a counterattack in the dying minutes.

NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI: 5

Showed dedication and persisted, but struggled against Cunha, who was the standout player of the match.

MANUEL UGARTE: 5

Was dispossessed far too easily at times and found it difficult against an energetic Wolves offense, leading to his substitution as part of Amorim’s adjustments following Fernandes’ red card.

KOBBIE MAINOO: 5

Displayed potential early on and created some good chances, but received a booking after halftime as United struggled to find creativity, resulting in his substitution.

DIOGO DALOT: 6

Produced a fantastic save from Jose Sa in the first half, which was one of the few positive moments for United, though his overall influence on the match was limited.

AMAD DIALLO: 5

Exhibited moments of inattention regarding his teammates and didn’t reach the level he showed in the Manchester derby nearly two weeks ago.

BRUNO FERNANDES: 3

Received a second yellow card early in the second half for a foul on Nelson Semedo, reflecting his frustration throughout the match.

RASMUS HOJLUND: 5

Became increasingly annoyed with the lack of support from his teammates, struggled in the final third, and was substituted with ten minutes left on the clock.

SUBS:

Casemiro (for Mainoo, 63 mins): 6

Christian Eriksen (for Ugarte, 63 mins): 6

Antony (for Yoro, 63 mins): 6
