HARRY MAGUIRE is concerned that rival teams are now “targeting” Manchester United during set-pieces after a disappointing 2-0 loss to Wolves.
United left Molineux with only ten players and yet another defeat after goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan.
Cunha’s first goal at the 58-minute mark originated from a corner, and United defender Maguire believes this has become a weakness for his squad.
He stated: “Losing another goal, particularly the first one from set-pieces, is critical in football matches.
“Set-pieces can shape the outcomes, especially in tightly fought contests.
“We’ve frequently let in the opening goal from set-pieces, and it’s quite discouraging.”
United also conceded two goals from set-pieces in earlier matches against Arsenal and Tottenham, where Son Heung-min scored directly from a corner.
This season, United has given up ten goals from set-pieces, not including penalties.
When asked about ways to address their set-piece concerns, Maguire replied: “We need to concentrate intensely on our training.
“It appears that teams are deliberately targeting our set-piece areas. It’s odd because I don’t think we are giving away many chances from them.

“They had a couple of set-pieces today that we handled satisfactorily, but they still managed to score from one.
“It’s about hard work and keeping our confidence; things will improve. I trust our players to defend the box well.

“We’ll get better; we just need to remain united.”
Looking ahead, United will take on Newcastle, but they will do so without Bruno Fernandes after his expulsion against Wolves.
Manager Ruben Amorim remarked: “Naturally, this defeat feels like a setback.
“The red card made it more challenging. The goal reminded me of our game against Tottenham. We tried to fight back even with one less player, but then Wolves scored again.
“In the end, we gave it everything, but the score was 2-0. We must keep pressing forward.”
