Premier League Referee David Coote Won’t Appeal Dismissal After Videos of Anti-Klopp Rant and Substance Use Emerged

Initial video

First individual: “What was your take on the Liverpool match earlier when you were the fourth official?”

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “Um, Liverpool were dreadful.”

First individual: “How do you feel about Jurgen Klopp?”

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “Absolute jerk, total jerk.”

First individual: “What makes you say that Jurgen Klopp is a jerk?”

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “Well, he really criticized me when I officiated their game against Burnley during lockdown.

“Then, he accused me of being dishonest and just went off on me – I’m not interested in talking to someone who’s so arrogant.

“So I try my best to avoid conversations with him. [James] Milner is fine, I get along with Milner.”

First individual: “James Milner, he has a good rapport with James Milner.”

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “You can spot me there wearing a mask.”

First individual: “Mask on, of course.”

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “Yeah, it’s Covid, needs to be done. Following social distancing protocols, right? We’re two meters apart.”

First individual: “We have to maintain social distance.”

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “Yep, but [exhales] wow. That German jerk, seriously.”

First individual: “To sum it up, Jurgen Klopp’s a jerk, Liverpool are all complete fools, we have a dislike for Scousers.”

Second video

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “So just to clarify, that last video absolutely cannot be released, seriously.”

First individual: “He’s a Premier League referee; let’s not ruin his career.”

“Honestly, we’re decent guys, but we can’t destroy a person’s career. We’re not that heartless. Plus, he’s a complete legend.”

Second individual (reportedly Coote): “So, indeed.”

First individual: “Let’s not jeopardize his career.”
