DAVE CHISNALL has been eliminated from the World Darts Championship after an exciting match against Ricky Evans.
The world No. 6, who reached the final at Ally Pally in 2010, was expected to outshine his rival at the darts on Monday night.
Unfortunately for Chisnall, he missed a crucial match dart, allowing Evans, who ranks No. 45 globally, to claim victory in a thrilling sudden death leg.
At a tied score of 2-2, both players delivered stunning darts that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats.
The escalating pressure led Chisnall, seeded 13th, to miscalculate his finish, granting Evans the opportunity to win.
‘Rapid’ seized the moment, finishing the final leg 6-5.
Following the match, Evans conveyed his astonishment and excitement about the result while gearing up for a confrontation with Welsh player Robert Owen.
Identifying himself as a “quirky lad from Kettering,” he beamed and remarked: “I faced off against a world-class player, and for once, I actually performed well – it’s not usually exciting, just rather average.”
“Look at me, I’m just a peculiar guy from Kettering; I can’t understand why the crowd backs me.”
“I wished I could have defeated Chizzy 3-0 as it would have been easier on my heart.”
