His next competitive match is set to be against his longtime rival John Higgins in the first round of the Masters on Sunday, January 12.

The seven-time world champion admits he will have to deal with jet lag before returning to Ally Pally, a venue he’s critiqued for its backstage conditions.

He recognizes that this isn’t the best way to prepare for his title defense at the Masters after such extensive travel.

However, O’Sullivan has already established two aspirations for the upcoming year.

This comes despite not having any specific resolutions for 2025.

O’Sullivan stated: “I return to the UK around January 3 or 4,

“I’ll have been in Saudi Arabia. After that, I’ll spend a week in Macau, followed by 3-4 days in China before heading home. It’s probably not the best situation.

“Prior to the last Masters, I played remarkably well, securing wins at the Shanghai Masters and the UK Championship after participating in a lot of matches.

“Yet, as of now, I haven’t played many competitive matches since August. It is what it is.

“From a long-term perspective, it might not happen this year or next.

“I just want to keep playing, enjoy it, have fun, and see what happens.

“I don’t actually have a New Year’s resolution. Maybe it’s simply to stay healthy and happy, I guess.

“I frequent the gym a lot. I hadn’t run in a year but started running a few months back as my knees were bothering me.

“Now, I’m doing some running, lots of gym workouts, and staying fit because I believe it’s good for my mindset and overall well-being.”
