As Mamelodi Sundowns gear up to face AmaZulu, Siphelele Mkhulise has highlighted the need for the Tshwane club to be mindful of Bongani Zungu’s skills, which could present a major obstacle.
The Brazilians are scheduled to clash with Usuthu in a Betway Premiership match at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday at 15:00.
The Durban-based side has recently signed former Sundowns midfielder Zungu and ex-Pirates defender Sandile Mthethwa.
While Mthethwa will not feature in this match, Zungu could be included if he is fit to play, having been out of action since June following his release from Sundowns during the off-season.
Mkhulise, 28, expresses that Zungu is a remarkable player who will boost Usuthu’s effectiveness, and the Sundowns must remain vigilant against his potential impact on Tuesday.
“Bongani [Zungu] is an incredibly skilled player, and we all acknowledge his talents,” Mkhulise stated ahead of their match against Usuthu.
“I’m confident he will add significant value to AmaZulu, and it’s essential for us to remain aware of that. We must prepare for any scenario regarding his involvement, as we know his capabilities and what he can do.”
Furthermore, the former Black Leopards midfielder emphasized that Usuthu will be a tough opponent due to their pool of strong players and the advantage of playing at home.
“We expect a challenging game as they [AmaZulu] are going for [three] points in front of their local fans,” Mkhulise remarked.
“Therefore, it will be a demanding match. They have many talented players and have been performing well, although they sometimes struggle to capitalize on opportunities. Overall, they are a strong side.”
After this match, the Brazilians will have their last game of the year against another KZN team, Richards Bay, on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Usuthu will travel to Cape Town to face Cape Town City on Sunday, concluding their 2024 season.
