MARTIN SCHINDLER just fell short of winning a £60,000 prize after his 3-0 defeat to Callan Rydz yesterday.
Schindler exited the PDC World Championship on Sunday night following his loss to Rydz.
Despite this, the 28-year-old came within one dart of achieving a spectacular nine-darter, which would have given him a wonderful Christmas bonus.
If a player achieves a perfect leg of darts at Ally Pally during this festive period, they are rewarded £60,000 by sponsor Paddy Power.
Moreover, a lucky fan at the venue also receives £60,000, along with an additional £60,000 being donated to Prostate Cancer UK.
Schindler came tantalizingly close to becoming part of the elite group of players who have won this prize, having thrown eight perfect darts, only to narrowly miss the double 12 needed for the jackpot.
The world number 22’s last dart landed excruciatingly close to the wire but ultimately fell short.
Amazingly, he lost the leg, despite having just 12 points left to finish.
Viewers were stunned by his loss in the leg, particularly as Rydz still had 164 points remaining on the board.
