MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea are keeping an eye on Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, who is drawing interest from several top-tier clubs.
The 28-year-old Sane enjoyed a fruitful four-year period at Manchester City, where he claimed two Premier League titles and an FA Cup, before returning to Germany in 2020 to join Bayern.
However, Sane’s contract is set to expire in June, and negotiations with the German club have yet to produce any results.
As noted by Sport, this deadlock has led to increased interest from some of Europe’s most renowned clubs.
This includes United, Chelsea, and Tottenham, especially with the January transfer window on the horizon.
Nonetheless, the Premier League clubs may face competition from Barcelona, who are actively pursuing Sane.
Barcelona aims to strengthen their wing positions following Lamine Yamal’s injury.
Consequently, reports suggest that the Blaugrana are also considering alternatives such as Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
However, given their financial limitations, Barcelona is leaning towards more budget-friendly options, such as Sane, who could potentially be a free agent in the summer.
Despite the ongoing contract issues with his current club, the German international has expressed a preference to stay in the Bundesliga.
Bayern wishes to finalize a new deal with a reduced salary, especially considering their depth on the wing, which includes Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise, and Kingsley Coman.
This season, Sane has netted only five goals and provided one assist across 19 matches.
