Mamelodi Sundowns has announced that it is investigating allegations of misconduct involving head coach Jerry Tshabalala of the women’s team. The club has placed Tshabalala on special leave while the investigation is underway.
In order to conduct a thorough and impartial inquiry, Sundowns has appointed the law firm Bowmans as independent investigators.
“Mamelodi Sundowns has received claims of improper conduct made by several female players against coach Jerry Tshabalala of its Ladies Team,” Sundowns stated in a press release issued on Saturday.
“Mamelodi Sundowns has directed a prominent law firm to probe the accusations of misconduct against its Ladies Team coach, Jerry Tshabalala,” the club indicated on Saturday.
“Mamelodi Sundowns takes these allegations with utmost seriousness and has engaged Bowmans to investigate the claims and report to the Board without delay. In the interim, Coach Jerry Tshabalala has been placed on special leave pending the outcome of the investigation. This action is designed not to pre-empt the findings of the investigation but to ensure that the inquiry progresses smoothly while protecting the rights of all parties involved.
Should the investigation reveal evidence that necessitates action, the Board will take suitable measures swiftly. Mamelodi Sundowns will share the results of the investigation and any subsequent actions in due course.
This situation arises following a disappointing performance by the Sundowns Ladies team in the Women’s CAF Champions League, despite having won the league title this season.
