Man Utd Faces Harry Maguire Dilemma as Three European Heavyweights Prepare for Swift Free Transfer Deal

AMAD DIALLO left Manchester City in disbelief as he turned the derby on its head.

The energetic winger won a penalty, which Bruno Fernandes deftly converted in the final moments to level the score.

Yet, the highlight was still to come, as Amad skillfully flicked the ball past an approaching Ederson and calmly slotted in a stunning winner from a tight angle deep into injury time.

Here’s how SunSport’s Neil Custis evaluated the Man Utd players…

Andre Onana – 6

He fails to instill confidence. He does not effectively command his area, and as highlighted midweek in Plzen, his distribution often aids the opposition.

However, he wasn’t frequently tested.

Lisandro Martinez – 7

He presents a more composed presence under Amorim compared to before, when he seemed keen to uphold his ‘Butcher of Amsterdam’ title.

Delivered a fantastic through ball at the end to assist Amad for the winning goal.

Harry Maguire – 8

Displayed superb performances in his battle with Erling Haaland, a contest in which he was victorious.

The decision to include the former captain for such a crucial match proved to be the right one. He seems well-equipped to play in the center of that back three.

Matthijs de Ligt 78′ – 7

A solid outing. He looked more at ease alongside Maguire than with other center-back partners.

Diogo Dalot – 5

Failed to time his jump properly, allowing Josko Gvardiol to surpass him for City’s opening goal. He contributed little offensively in his wing-back position.

Bruno Fernandes – 8

Missed a key opportunity when clear on goal, sending the ball wide.

However, when it mattered at the penalty spot, he remained composed and sent Ederson the wrong way to equalize.

Manuel Ugarte – 7

He positioned himself in front of the back four, reducing Phil Foden’s impact on the home side significantly.

Noussair Mazraoui 78′ – 8

The standout among the summer signings. He played as the right wing-back this time and adjusts to whatever role is needed. One of United’s top performers on the day.

Mason Mount 13′ – 6

Looked on the verge of tears when he had to leave early. His luck with injuries has been abysmal since joining the club.

Amad Diallo 90′ – 9

A career-defining moment with a memorable derby-winning goal. He made a brilliant run to meet Martinez’s pass, cleverly flicking the ball past Ederson. Though his finish wasn’t the cleanest, he got it on target.

He nearly leveled the score earlier with a header, which Ederson brilliantly saved.

His sharp awareness to capitalize on Nunes’ back pass led to the penalty that resulted in United’s equalizer.

Rasmus Hojlund 78′ – 6

His most significant moment was a head-to-head clash with Walker, who fell, and a brief attempt to win a penalty with a light tumble.

However, he provided a key through ball for Fernandes that should have led to an equalizer.

Subs

Kobbie Mainoo 13′ – 6

Performed steadily when coming on in a deeper role than Mount, allowing Fernandes to move forward.

Joshua Zirkzee 78′ – 6

Not the player to dramatically alter a match, but he effectively retained possession in the closing moments.

Antony 78′ – 6

Substituted in to make an impact, but he appears to lack the confidence stemming from limited playing time.

Leny Yoro 78′ – 6

Gradually returning to full fitness after his summer injury.

Victor Lindelof 90′ – 6

Had little time to make an impact on the game.
